MEISNER TECHNIQUE: SHORT COURSE FOR BEGINNERS
WHEN: 2-6 JULY 2018
TIMES: 10:00 - 16:30
WHERE: BRIGHTON INSTITUTE FOR CONTEMPORARY THEATRE TRAINING
This course explores the basis of the Meisner technique, combined with practices and philosophies that align with values of courage, empathy, connection, non-judgement and worthiness.
Focusing heavily on authenticity as an indispensable gift for true, honest work, the course encourages each individual actor to let go of the habits that get in the way of authentic acting and to invest in the reality of doing truthfully.
Connection to both self and others is a central theme at this stage. Here participants will develop the ability to stay open and available moment to moment, connected to spontaneous responses and able to channel them in the context of performance.
The sessions are led by Chaskis Theatre’s Artistic Directors – Raymi Ortuste Quiroga and Huw Parmenter.
Raymi has trained with a number of international Meisner practitioners and is currently a leading acting tutor on the Foundation and BA Acting courses at Rose Bruford College. Huw Parmenter has recently stared in CLOSE with Noomi Rapace, KILLING EVE (BBC America) and VIKINGS (Amazon).
REQUIREMENTS: Participants must be 18+. Fluent, confident knowledge of the English language is essential. No prior experience of Meisner is required, although a willingness to approach the work with boldnessand curiosity is crucial.
